I like these biscuits due to their colorful look. Red and green colored tutti frutti make these look really appealing. I couldn’t stop myself from taking a lot of pictures.
Tutti frutti is candied raw papaya which is easily available in the market. Adding it to cakes,cookies and breads is a good way to make them appealing to eyes. Ingredients:
Wheat flour : 110 g
Custard powder : 3 tbsp
Butter : 75 g
Unrefined sugar : 60 g
Milk : 1 -2 tsp
Vanilla essence : 1 tsp
Baking powder :1/2 tsp
Tutti frutti : 2 tbsp
Instructions:
Take butter and sugar in a big bowl. Beat them together till the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Bring together the dry ingredients, flour,custard powder and baking powder and pass through a sieve 2-3 times.
Mix the dry ingredients with butter sugar mixture. Add vanilla essence and one tbsp of tutti frutti.
Make a smooth dough using milk. Divide the dough in two parts. Roll each part between two layers of parchment paper.
Sprinkle the remaining tutti frutti on the dough and roll once more lightly so that the tutti frutti sticks on it.
Cut the biscuits with a round cookie cutter. Keep these in refrigerator for half an hour.
Preheat the oven at 150’C and bake the biscuits for 18 minutes or till the edges begin to brown.
Allow the biscuits to cool and store in an air tight container.
Notes:
The dough should be soft and pliable. If the dough is dry,add 1 tbsp of milk.
Baking time may vary depending on your oven’s temperature settings.
Custard powder can be replaced by all purpose flour or rice flour.
